Saint Trojan’s little train
For an unusual walk…
Embark on an original ride aboard the P’tit Train de Saint-Trojan, in service since 1963. Proudly displaying its bright colors, this tourist train travels along 12 kilometers of track.
The ride begins in the state-owned forest of Saint-Trojan in the south of the island of Oléron, and then travelers quickly reach the island’s south-western tip, off the beaten track, towards the mythical “Pertuis de Maumusson”.

The little train also serves another, more family-friendly beach: Plage de Gatseau, the ideal spot for a picnic on the edge of a bay protected from the wind. There’s always a little train to take you back to Saint-Trojan-les-Bains a little later.
A ride aboard the P’tit Train de Saint-Trojan combines the pleasures of beach days, sunbathing and nature walks.
In July and August, the Trains du Soleil Couchant (Sunset Trains) run at night for a magical musical ride to Maumusson to see one of the most beautiful sunsets. The return journey is a magical night-time spectacle aboard the illuminated train.
Every Thursday in June and early September, the “Train des Saveurs” offers a unique opportunity to sample local produce, oysters and white wine from Oleron on the beach at Maumusson.
